We had an absolute blast in Seattle. Our first stop was Pike's Place Market. The Market was so fun to wander around. There was such a exciting vibe here. Everything was local and there was so much to see. There was also tons of great seafood. One of my favorite things was the crew of fishermen throwing the fish back and forth to each other. They were so entertaining and fun to watch. It reminded me a little bit of the markets in Taiwan.
There was tons of fresh fish, fruit and flowers. The flowers were so incredible. All the tulips are in bloom and very beautiful. Raspberries are my absolute favorite fruit so I was excited to get them fresh. Amazing!
While at the market, we found the famous gum wall. So gross, but also really cool! Of course we had to contribute.
The Seattle Art Museum is only about a block away from the Market. Both Blake and I really enjoy art museums. This was a great museum that showcased a lot of American artists. There was quite a bit of contemporary and modern art which was really neat. In the main lobby there was a really interesting car display that we sat and stared at for a few minutes.
The Space Needle and the Experience Music Project (EMP) museum are right next to each other. Blake was in heaven in the EMP. This museum is very interactive which made it so much fun. There is an exhibit all about Nirvana, because they are from Seattle. Blake's middle school self was so excited! The interactive part of the museum was upstairs, we mixed music in one of the recording rooms. The main lobby had the coolest instrument tower, headphones were supplied to listen to the live music being played by the instruments on the tower. So COOL.
We stayed with some of Blake's relatives who live in Bellevue. They live about five minutes for the Seattle Temple. The Temple grounds are extremely beautiful and full of flowers and greenery.
We wanted to find a good over look of the city without spending too much money. I googled some places and found Kerry Park, a park on a hill above the city. I am so glad we found this park, because it has the most incredible view of the city and we didn't have to pay a dime for it.
Another great view point of the city in Alki Beach. We spent one afternoon driving around the beach and playing on the drift wood.
We did a lot of exploring outside the city, be sure to read about that in the post to come!
